Current/Future Summer 2010 VBS: VBS is here. Starting Monday, July 12 through July 16 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. there will be children, teachers and helpers roaming the halls of Gethsemane. There will be lots of singing, learning, playing, eating and much, much more. It's not too late if you'd like to be a helper or to consider a donation to help support VBS. As you know VBS is free of charge so we rely on the donations of members and friends to fund this...any donation is greatly appreciated. Be sure to earmark your donation "VBS!" The Neenah, WI group will be with us once again to help us staff VBS and will be staying at our dorms this week. Please be sure to welcome them and thank them for once again being a part of this experience. They are on a tight budget as is Gethsemane, but we would like to help them with their pantry needs for meals while they are with us. Following are some of the items that they said they could use this week to help defray their cost. If you'd like to help out please bring it to the kitchen in the fellowship hall and be sure to mark on it that it is for the Neenah group. We appreciate your help with anything! Thrivent Financial for Lutherans announced that they will match members' gifts to Lutheran World Relief (LWR), giving $1 for every $2 donated. If you are a Thrivent member, click here to learn more and to have your gift matched. Now you can also support LWR right from your cell phone! Starting Sunday, January 17th, just text "LWR" to 40579 to donate $10. Remember to reply "YES" to the confirmation. It's quick and easy. Clip Those Coupons: We would like everyone to clip coupons that they don't want and bring them to church. They should be the kind of coupons that can be used at any grocery. The military will accept them for use at the exchanges, even if they are expired up to 6 months. We can get them to our military people who are overseas to help them with their expenses. Thanks!
Past Firefighter's Potluck: A special meal was served at Gethsemane on May 2nd in honor of the firefighters in our area. Click here to read a wonderful article, written by Earl Hodges of the TImes Picayune.
Celia Whitler in Concert:
Celia Whitler,
a singer-songwriter who
makes music in a wide variety of venues both sacred and secular, performed
during an intimate concert at Gethsemane in December.
Opening for Celia and sharing her
musical gifts with us was our own Sarah Unbehagen.
It was truly a blessed
event. Newsletters Click on the links provided below to access recent newsletters! Our newsletters are in PDF format.
