It's almost here! It's just about time! Soon we will celebrate our greatest hero! We get to do this just once a year, and it's a really big event for the church. On March 23rd , we will welcome?
THE EASTER BUNNY!
It's so exciting, we can hardly stand it. Just think! A day when the kids get to hunt Easter eggs and load up on Easter candy! What a wonderful day it will be!
Can you imagine what Easter would mean, if that were all there is to it? It would end up being something that caused dread in people, rather than joy. All we would be concerned about is getting enough candy, little Easter toys, the BUNNY. And then comes the sugar high that all the kids will have. It would be just as bad as the commercialized Christmas celebration.
But we know that Easter is so much more than that. Easter without Jesus would be as bad as Christmas without Jesus - just another hectic holiday.
Thank God that we have something else to celebrate that day! We get to celebrate the new life that is ours because our Savior, Jesus Christ, rose from the dead on that day. The price for our sin?death?has been paid and is not the last word. The last word is LIFE. It is life that will last forever in the presence of God.
So let's get excited about the coming holiday! Let's remember to true meaning of Easter. It's a celebration of our greatest hero - Jesus. It's a festival of life after death.
May your Easter be truly blessed! I hope we see you at worship that day.

We atGethsemane wish to express our gratitude to Pastor Jim for his dedication to GLC. Pastor Jim and his wife Aloma now live in Memphis, TN where they relocated after Hurricane Katrina for Aloma's job. PJ commutes weekly from Memphis to Chalmette to serve Gethsemane and our community.
